Permutation Patterns 2025

Excursion

On Wednesday afternoon we will have a walking tour of St Andrews, covering the fascinating history of the town, the University and golf. With main sights including the Cathedral, Castle, St Salvador’s Chapel, and the Old Course. The walking tour will end at the University museum where we will get more insights into the University and its quirky traditions.

Banquet

The conference banquet will be on Thursday evening. The banquet will be held in Lower/Upper College Hall. The ‘halls’ are on St Salvator’s Quad and across from St Salvator’s Chapel (the University Chapel).

Local Recommendations/Suggestions

This is an extensive (but most likely not complete) list of places to eat, drink or visit in and around St Andrews.

The main part of St Andrews consists of 3 streets (North, Market and South Street) and has interconnecting ones between them. St Andrews is mostly surrounded by the sea or golf courses. But has got many different things to offer!

For those arriving for the workshop please note that the University graduations will be ongoing till Friday! Please don’t be surprised by the many students in gowns and formal wear. This will make dining options in the evenings a little difficult. Saturday should start being quieter, but expect people in ball gowns in the evening for the graduation ball.

The Student Union is open to the public over the summer.

We have separated the places into three (possibly subjective) cost categories (BF - Budget Friendly, MR - MidRange, TR - Top Range).

Restaurants

Food that is more takeaway focussed but might still have some space to sit

Pubs which do not serve food
